Teams are an important part of many organizations, including but not limited to research and development teams, customer service teams, and executive teams. However, teams can be difficult to implement effectively and they often fail to meet their objectives. This workshop will explore the effective management of work teams and methods for dealing with underperforming teams. Participants in this workshop will learn determinants of team success, some of the reasons many teams fail, and strategies for improving team effectiveness. Topics include culture, norms, contracts, trust, conflict management, commitment, and listening and persuasion skills. Some of the unique needs of virtual and matrix teams will also be discussed.
